Dark and beautiful ambient for searching souls.
Ben Frost – Threshold of Faith
At times experimenting ambient, other times beautiful modern composition, and then some noisy downtempo.
Kollaps – Durpass
Soothing but sorrow, tender but troubled. Ambient techno. Apparat meets Steffi.
Biosphere – The Petrified Forest
Black Mesa.
Loscil – Monument Builders
Heartbreaking ambient.
Wilsen – I Go Missing In My Sleep
This feels to me what Khoiba felt like in 2004. Personal, emotional, delicate.
Actress – AZD
Also a wandering, through techno to experimental ambient soft noises.
Sidenote: the last Gonjasufi record is named after an alternate reality perception thing, and this Actress album writes in the press release about “a chrome aspect journey into a parallel world”. Hm.
FJAAK – FJAAK
Technoid music from Berlin. Not all four-by-four though, some broken beats, ambient textures too, but synths and underground electronic vibe all around. Nice find.
