Sólstafir – Silfur-Refur

There’s this Record Store Day vinyl special of the latest Sólstafir album with an unreleased B-side and it totally makes the whole record worth the mention. They say “Scorpion Moonrise was written in only one day, on which we also recorded the demo […] guest appearance by Hexvessel vocalist Mat “Kvohst” McNerney.” Stones, hammers, rocks.

Fontän ‎- Fontän

Psychedelic rock something it says about itself. Reminds me of some retro-nostalgic electronics, probably influenced by the cover art. Also resembles some Hungarian electro-rock acts that I can relate to like Colorstar.

Brütal Legend (2009)

I’ve just finished the video game Brütal Legend finally after many takes through many years but this time I took it to the end; although it was not that big deal in terms of time (or difficulty for that matter) even though I am quite a completionist.

So. This is easily one of my most rewarding and awesome gameplay experiences ever. And reminds me again how rich the lore of heavy metal is. Nothing compares. Really. Nowadays I tend to listen to more electronic music than metal but still, the world around heavy metal with all its characters, icons, legends, elements and stories, let it be imaginary or based on the real world – you just cannot beat it. And Brütal Legend brought all this to life in the most beautiful way possible. I loved to be sucked into that world.

Thank you Tim Schafer, thank you Double Fine, thank you Jack Black. And my heart went boom listening to the voices of Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford. I may easily go back to do some achievements just to meet the Guardian of Metal and the Kill Master again.

Syd Arthur ‎- Apricity

I’ve been stashing this one for a long time without posting here. I re-listened it a few times to have a better idea how to put it. It is psychedelic rock, but very accessible, kind of pop-flavoured but in a good sense. There is this thing like I have heard many of these tunes before—probably they are playing on the twists and hooks of the genre pretty well.

Nine Inch Nails – Not the Actual Events

Would post this without listening to a single note. But, listened to this once so far. And now I need it to rest for a day and start listening again after. What I can say now is that it’s really diverse, and awesome, unexpectedly oldschool but not just that but lifespanning. Runs through the entire NIN catalogue’s moods and sounds and atmosphere in five tracks, and builds upon it to travel further. (Alright, not the entire NIN catalogue, but you know, the good records, the proper ones.)

Favorite track after first listen is probably The Idea of You with the most dragging industrial beat.
