Just recently I got to going through all last year’s Modeselektor output and the single from the new record sounded the most promising. So no surprises there that the album is great. Many different flavors from the dancefloor to the chill room, but all the tracks have the unmistakeable touch of Modeselektor. I instantly started looking at the upcoming live dates to catch them some time.
Just like recently going through everything Booka Shade in 2018, I did now the same with Modeselektor. They were not that productive, but the 4th Modeselektion is still not bad, and my favorite of the year was Wealth. Reminds me of the heavy-hitting flow that took me by surprise when The Dark Side of the Sun appeared.
Technoid music from Berlin. Not all four-by-four though, some broken beats, ambient textures too, but synths and underground electronic vibe all around. Nice find.
After one debut album a single with Plaid and Alva Noto remixes. I am trying to say this sentence out loud so that I can get a grip on it. Wait, what?
Itt van végre az új Dark Sky album, a hangfalakból áramlik felém, és te jó ég, annyira csodálatos, hogy sírni tudnék. Egyszer zörejes-szőnyeges kies tér, máskor fejet leszakító beatekkel operáló organikus dzsungel, közben pedig néha átszelünk az űrjárművünkkel egy Titánra épített metropoliszon. Amikor az Odyssey jön a lemezen, akkor elcsalok egy tripla repeatet, aztán mehet tovább, a végén pedig replay az egészre.
Messze a legjobb dolog, amit eddig idén hallottam.
Ja igen, ígéretemhez híven megjegyzem most is, hogy a borítója is szuper. Könyvborítóként is szép lenne.
Augusztus végén jön a Dark Sky debüt LP a Monkeytownon, a napokban pedig egy kétszámos előzetes érkezett, ez a Silent Fall. A címadó szám énekes, mély, lassú, andalgós, esőben autózós filmzene. A másik oldalon Odyssey címmel egy hangulatos house szól, fülhallgató alatt simogat, de be fog ez férni a fülledt bulikba is egy sötét tánctéren, amit épp átszaggat néhány diszkógömbről visszaverődő fénypont.
Külön pont a borítóért, és fogom még ezt mondani akkor is, amikor a nagylemezzel jövök majd vissza. Nagyon sci-fi.
