This is the best compilation album I have heard in quite a while. Didn’t know any of the artists and now have albums queued from all of them. This is a gold mine.
VA – Emerging Organisms vol. 5
Oneohtrix Point Never did a video for the track Animals starring Val Kilmer. It is so minimal that you are not sure if this is it but still you cannot not watch. Anyhow, I like it.
Pitchfork writes that “Kilmer is falling asleep on the side of a bed”. What did these guys watch? He is clearly listening to the track. That is the best part of the whole thing.
Westworld s01e01
Dark City meets Ex Machina meets something from the wild west. This pilot was great, I’ll be curious to see where we are going from here, or what greater plot pans out.
Also, Black Hole Sun played by the saloon’s automatic piano, and the Pain It Black under the shooting scene… Pretty much wow music choices and covers.
Footnote: HBO goes mad this year with doing The Night Of first, and then this.

Listening to many post-hardcore stuff nowadays, once again. Brings back the times when I had more of that rage and tried to express more of it. Time to do that again. Externalize.
Cursive – The Ugly Organ
Good rock music and the strings, sometimes with a hint of theatrical edge to it. Like the young little brother of Dog Fashion Disco. Old music, new find.

You can create a great playlist from this selection. Although I feel there is more grunge feeling and sounds in there than hardcore per se, but still good assembly of bands and album suggestions.
