After one debut album a single with Plaid and Alva Noto remixes. I am trying to say this sentence out loud so that I can get a grip on it. Wait, what?
The Prodigy – Roadblox (Paula Temple Remix)
This one is interesting because at last a new Prodigy remix, which does not exactly sound like the Prodigy track in the first place. This one is some dirty techno shit.
Kamixlo – Demonico EP
Shamanism meets rhythmic noise. Exciting, strange, makes me think.
IAMX – Metanoia
The new IAMX album is the most beautiful many shades of black. Unexpected, blows me away. Feels like ebony silk flowing through my brain, drops of dark ink running through my veins, escaping light at the crack of a door.
Tricky pres. Skilled Mechanics – Berlin to Beijing
Cool two new tracks from Tricky. Even cooler what he says about Ivy, who is featured one of the tracks:
“The strange thing is, I’ve had the track for a while but I only just found out that she’s not rapping in Chinese. I ain’t got a clue what language it is. I have no idea. It might be completely made up but whatever it is, it sounds wicked. I’m lucky that with my label, False Idols, I don’t need to worry about things like this. I’m never going to have an A&R guy saying to me, ‘We don’t understand what she’s saying.’ Because we don’t need the support of commercial radio.”
Yes, you don’t. And it is a great thing.
John Carpenter – Lost Themes Remixed
I normally don’t write about stuff that I didn’t like, but I just like the concept of this album, i.e. remixing Carpenter soundtracks. However this one performs way below my expectations. Good album cover though.
Kingbastard – XY34R5 “A Decade of Bastardism!”
Kingbastard celebrates his 10th birthday with this moniker by collecting all his previous releases in one big bundle. First thing to note here: this is a USB drive release, music actually placed on a flash drive, which is placed in a box-set kind of box. Sounds kinda funny but actually it looks surprisingly great. Then he created a compilation of the compilation by selecting 28 tracks, which is then released as a digital album with the same name. It is an awesome collection, quite a pleasure and broad spectrum of styles to dig through.
Killing Joke – Euphoria / I Am The Virus
Listening to the two new Killing Joke singles in a row made me very enthusiastic about the new album coming soon. Almost pre-ordered the record on LP but stayed strong and stayed put. Still it made me do a full listen-through of the Killing Joke discography, playing right now and for the few days ahead presumably.
Booka Shade – Wildest Thing
Soft smooth electro, nice, calming, drives the mind.
Group Rhoda – Out Of Time Out Of Touch
All different kinds of waves from new wave to cold wave with a characteristic tone of post-industrial but with a hint of silliness at certain points.
